The purpose of this award shall be to honor and recognize an untenured, tenure-track faculty member in the College of Agricultural Sciences, whose research involves the social or human sciences, for the best refereed article published in a scholarly journal in the previous two years.

Eligible nominations for any of the themes for the High-Impact Publication Awards may also be considered for the Roy C. Buck Faculty Awards, which comes with a $1,000 stipend. Additional criteria and restrictions on eligibility apply for the Buck Awards. All tenure-track faculty (but untenured at the time of the award) are eligible. Past recipients are not eligible. Only single nominations marked for Buck Award consideration can be accepted (group nominations for a Buck Award are not eligible). One award will be made to recognize impactful research in the social sciences, and a second award will be made to recognize impactful research that has a direct impact on human health, behavior, or well-being.
