The purpose of this endowment is to assist faculty members in the College of Agricultural Sciences by providing discretionary monies for research and scholarly travel to faculty whose research has been interrupted due to either a temporary or permanent lapse in funding.

Only one submission per academic unit. The approval of your department head will be requested as a part of the review process.

Eligibility

One faculty member per academic department whose research program has experienced a temporary lapse in funding, either due to extramural funding cycles or to a change in research focus.

Amount

$6600 anticipated for 2024/2025 fiscal year.

Guidelines

  • The proposal should explain the following (2 pages maximum):
    • Potential significance of the research that would be continued by this funding
    • Past funding, publication, and student involvement history
    • Prospects for continuing funding
    • Current and pending grants
  • Brief budget and justification for the expected use of the funds within the time-frame of July 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025. Funds cannot be used for faculty supplemental salary. Other personnel is permitted and will be charged the appropriate fringe amount.

Please note that these funds must be expended by May 31, 2025, to allow for clearing the budget by June 30. Any remaining funds will revert to our office and will be used per donor guidelines.

Proposals must be submitted through the InfoReady system by midnight Friday, May 10, 2024 (deadline extended).

Selection Process

Proposals will be reviewed by the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education with consultation from appropriate department heads or faculty members as needed.
