The purpose of this endowment shall be to support College of Agricultural Sciences faculty in their biotechnology research and teaching programs that give promise of improving upon food crop production and quality while protecting the quality and safety of the environment.

Eligibility

Submissions from teams of investigators/instructors are welcome, but a faculty member is limited to one submission, either solo or as a team member.

Amount

$6,600 available for 2024/2025 fiscal year.

Guidelines

The proposal should include:

  • A description the nature of the applicant's biotechnology research or teaching program and how it addresses improvements on food crop production and quality while protecting the quality and safety of the environment (2 pages maximum).
  • Brief budget and justification for the expected use of the funds within the time-frame of July 1, 2024, through May 31, 2025. Funds cannot be used for faculty supplemental salary. Other personnel is permitted and will be charged the appropriate fringe amount.

Please note that these funds must be expended by May 31, 2025, to allow for clearing the budget by June 30. Any remaining funds will revert to our office and will be used per donor guidelines.

Proposal Deadline

Proposals must be submitted through the InfoReady system by midnight Friday, May 10, 2024 (deadline extended).

Selection Process

Proposals will be reviewed by the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education with consultation from appropriate department heads or faculty members as needed.
