This was one of the best experiences of my life.
One of my favorite things about traveling abroad was seeing different landscapes than we have here in Pennsylvania. The land was so beautiful with luscious grasses and rocks found in fields lining every property. My favorite tourist spot was the Cliffs of Moher. I have never seen anything so pure in its nature. The sound of huge waves crashing on the cliffs with puffins and seagulls chirping. The wind blowing the long, green grass like a whole different kind of ocean. There were wild flowers growing along the cliffs that were beautiful and tiny but added a pop of color.
We visited many farms on this trip and learned so much more about agriculture. Before the trip in our spring class we visited some potato farms and packing facilities in Pennsylvania including the Utz Company in Hanover. When in Ireland we visited a sheep farm and got to explore some of their potato farms to compare the techniques of farming.
We also visited the Muckross gardens and were able to view a beautifully maintained garden landscape with many plants like rhododendrons and azalea in full bloom. The estate was so large and we were able to walk the whole area.
Before this trip, I had never been overseas. This trip gave me a whole new perspective on the world and made me realize that there are many different issues taking place in different locations. I am happy to say that I have gained knowledge of the culture in Ireland and I had the opportunity to live out this experience for ten days. Our instructors and tour guides made the trip as memorable as they could and I feel very blessed to have experienced it with my classmates.
