Welcome to Ag Sciences Global!

Here at Ag Sciences Global, we seek to:

  • Spark global learning for all, making international and intercultural learning accessible to all faculty, staff and students, as well as our stakeholders;
  • Illuminate our collective commitment to work which spans from domestic to international--work that is both strategic and integral to the teaching, research, and outreach missions of the college and University;
  • Advance the global nature of the work of the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences, enhancing the capacity we have to impact the world in a positive way.

We have a rich history of work around the globe, starting with our engagement with China in 1907 when Penn State worked with an agriculture high school in Guangdong province.  That school is now one of the top agriculture universities in China and we continue our partnership with them to this day.

Today, our work is focused on advancing research and learning through partnerships to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to Food Security, Climate Change, and Reducing Inequities.

Key Initiatives

Our key initiatives include our International Food Safety Initiative, Gender Equity through Agriculture Research and Education (GEARE), and Cacao and Chocolate Research Network. We work with two key consortia, the Consortium for Ukraine’s Rural and Agriculture Development and the Global Challenges University Alliance 2030. In Latin America and Africa, we are taking a Water, Energy, Food Nexus approach to our work.

Student Programs

Our student programs are unique and offer our students the chance to make a difference in many ways that suit their interests. Our undergraduate minor in International Agriculture is one of the most popular in the College and our INTAD graduate dual title degree is the only one of its kind. We also offer a range of other global learning opportunities for our students—either at home or abroad and have a strong outreach program to our K-12 students through Global Teach Ag! Network.
