International Food Safety Initiative

Through this global initiative, Penn State’s groundbreaking research, training, and outreach programs are improving the health and quality of life for millions worldwide, as well as helping to ensure an accessible and nutritious food supply that is safe from threats, whether incidental or intentional.

Food Safety Promotes Food Security

Launched in 2016 to highlight the enormous capability of Penn State faculty and staff, the International Food Safety Initiative builds on outreach programs such as the Food Microbiology Short Course, the Better Process Control School: Preventive Controls Qualified Individual Training, and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control point training.

Projects Around the World

With partnerships in 12 countries on four continents, Penn State’s International Food Safety Initiative’s current projects include lab safety assessment and training in East and South Africa, FSMA awareness materials for Central and Latin America, and customized trainings for students and industry participants in Armenia and Ukraine.
