Shaver's Creek now offers more credit classes each year, including Outdoor School. Check out the many opportunities available!

Programs & Special Events

  Penn State students can earn academic credit while volunteering for many of our programs.  Lead and teach children and families about the natural world through hands-on activities in these educational programs and seasonal events:

  • Maple Harvest Festical
  • Fall Harvest Festival
  • Discovery Walks
  • Guided Nature Center Visits

Interns are valued members of the Shaver's Creek staff.  Our internship program is open to anyone interested in the fields of Environmental Education, raptor/herpetofauna care and education, team development, or nonprofit marketing.

Volunteer & Work Study

Raptor Center - Care/handling of resident animals

Caretaker - Garden and trail maintenance, wood shop

Office - Center operations & visitor services

Programs - Environmental education, plant science, school programs and special events assistants.
