The Penn State community can join in on several no-cost webinars during Financial Literacy Month this April.

The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center will host a webinar on financial literacy: “After Graduation” at noon on April 30.

The Penn State community can also join PNC Student Banking for this webinar Early Career: Creating Your Financial Foundation, at 7 p.m. April 25, will provide a high-level overview of good choices about hosing and commuting expenses, company health and retirement plans, personal credit use and an emergency fund for unexpected expenses.

Aidan Kamowski, a Penn State senior supply chain management major from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, said students especially can establish financial stability early in life and make future financial goals more easily attainable. Kamowski is a student ambassador with the Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center.

“Financial goals such as saving for retirement and building a high credit score are more attainable when started early in life,” Kamowski said. “Moreover, while financial literacy benefits everyone, young individuals and college students encounter distinct challenges, like student loans, and opportunities, like more time to benefit from compound interest on their investments. Effectively navigating these options can open doors to greater financial freedom in the future.”

The Sokolov-Miller Family Financial and Life Skills Center offers services to the entire Penn State community and is part of Penn State Undergraduate Education.
