Soil Health for One Health, a New College Initiative

Soil health has been defined as the soil’s capacity to deliver all requirements for stress-free plant growth while minimizing off-site losses of soil, water, and nutrients to the environment.

From a global environmental perspective, soil health protects against erosion, desertification, and pollution, which threaten not only landscape sustainability but human health as well. The importance of soil health to ecosystem stability, water supply, and climate mitigation is spurring efforts by federal agencies to advance soil health education.
