Testing irrigation waters is important for diagnosing problems that may be related to water quality as well as for assessing irrigation water nutrient content when used for fertigation.

Irrigation Water Test Packages

The Basic Test Package of this program includes tests for assessing water quality and for trouble-shooting irrigation water problems.

The Complete Test Package includes tests from the basic package plus fertilizer nutrients. Use this test package for evaluation of fertigation, recirculating irrigation, and greenhouse or nursery wastewater. Also appropriate for troubleshooting irrigation and fertigation water and plant nutrition problems.

Submitting Your Sample

Free sample mailers for submitting your sample are available from the laboratory or from many county offices of the Penn State Extension. Alternatively, you may submit a water sample (½ quart or 2 cups required) in your own plastic container along with an irrigation water submission form (pdf format).
