This tour features ongoing research on the sustainable management of soil health and soilborne pests and pathogens in open field and high tunnel vegetable production systems.
Part of the Organic Vegetable Production Research Tour at Ag Progress Days
Members of our research and Extension team will lead the tour and will be available to answer questions.
Participants will visit open field and high tunnel research plots and will learn about:
- fresh market tomato and cucumber production
- advantages and challenges associated with the use of high tunnels compared to open field production
- organic vegetable production systems and associated opportunities and challenges
- soil health and Anaerobic Soil Disinfestation an innovative biological solution for the management of soilborne pests and pathogens.
Bus Leaves Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.; Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.; and Thursday at 3:00 p.m.
Note: Walking on uneven soil and standing involved. No restrooms are available.
