Conservation Exhibit Area (CEA) and Planting Areas

See several Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) demonstrations, focused on working farms. No-Till machinery will be on display, along with Cover Crop demo plots and Warm Season's Grass Plot. 

Cover Crops and Plantings

• Cover Crop Plots and Planting Green - South of the Harrington Bldg. and Conservation Area, Pennsylvania seed companies and Penn State extension representatives will host new cover crop mixtures planted in the plots. Penn State Extension staff will be at the plots to host talks at 11:45 a.m. daily to discuss the new cover crop mixtures planted in the plots. 
• Corn Chopping Demonstrations - Daily at 12:30 on the Grounds at Equipment Demonstration Fields, see Map.
• Soybean Demonstration Plots will also be available to view just north of Route 45 across street from Gate J entrance.
• Ernst Seeds and Horticulture Extension Team will be hosting the Warm Season's Grass Pollinator Demo Plot in the Conservation Exhibit Area and providing information from their adjacent booth.
  

Water Resources and Soil Conservation

• No-Till Alliance will feature the Rainfall Simulator Demonstrations showing infiltration daily, 10:00 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.
  
• Water Wellhead Demonstration Areas will meet at Pasto Museum for the walking tour at 1:00 p.m. daily, with Penn State Extension Water team staff to learn more.
• USDA-NRCS staff will be featuring an active livestock watering system with ram and solar-powered pumps for grazing operations, a scaled concrete heavy use area with roofed manure storage to address animal concentration areas on your farm, and an walk through soil tunnel to demonstrate how soil health and its beneficial properties can impact your operation. All demos will be supported by NRCS technical staff to explain how these systems work and other ways to address your natural resource issues and questions. 
• A large variety of No-Till Equipment will be on display at Penn State's CMEG area outside the J. D. Harrington Building.
