Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences works year-round to promote its largest event of the year -- Ag Progress Days. Through multi-media advertising and publicity outreach, farmers, agribusiness representatives, homeowners, and consumers are made aware of the many products, services, and educational opportunities at Ag Progress Days.

Past surveys of attendees show that more than half the respondents heard about Ag Progress Days through various advertising media.

Newspapers/Magazines

Ads are placed and news releases are printed prior to the show in a number of newspapers and magazines along with Pennsylvania's major farming publications, such as Lancaster Farming, American Agriculturist, Ohio Farm & Dairy, Delmarva Farmer, local Ogdin Newspapers, Farmer's Friend, Fastline Publications, and Farming Magazine. These newspapers also send reporters to Ag Progress Days and publish stories during and after the event.

Brochure Placements & Web Exposure

Nearly 40,000 promotional brochures are distributed through tourism bureaus, local hotels, farm equipment associations, cooperative extension offices, and other appropriate agencies. Brochures are featured on the homepage of our website as a PDF. Google Analytics registers over 100,000 page views in the months leading up to the show.

Radio

Ag Progress Days is advertised widely on radio stations throughout Pennsylvania through targeted media buys designed to reach high-density production agricultural areas. In addition, advertisements are carried on a statewide radio network of more than 50 stations. As a major news event, the show also receives on-site coverage from many stations.
