Summer Research Assistant opportunity
Opportunity: Assist with field research and lab tasks focused on insect and plant pathogen population ecology and management in specialty crops.
Duties:
- Establish and service pheromone traps
- Help with efficacy studies in sweet corn and cucumber plots
- Monitor and report data using web interfaces
- Assist in data management, compile and summarize data, routine lab maintenance
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work independently/small teams in:
- Ag fields
- laboratory settings
- Ability to travel to field sites
- potential overnight travel
- very early morning field work
- Must be willing to learn basic insect, plant and pathogen identification
- Pursuing Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Ecology, Biology, or related field
- an understanding of agricultural systems
- exposure to statistical analyses
- computer skills
