Penn State Campus Residential Dining (UP) seeks two student sustainability coordinators for the 2017-18 school year.

Penn State Campus Residential Dining (UP) is seeking two Sustainability Coordinators to enhance and further develop sustainability projects, including Green2Go, local meals and other initiatives. Residential Dining seeks to establish a conscious community of students and staff to provide a sustainable dining option for the 15,000 plus students it serves and the extended University.

This position's headquarters will be located at South Food District, working under the Residential Dining Coordinator, but will also work closely with all five Residential Dining units including East, West, North, and South Food Districts, as well as Pollock Dining Commons.

Residential Dining is in need of two sustainability coordinators to assist with the following programs, including, but not limited to:

  • Green2Go, the Reusable Take-Out Container Program
  • Sustainability Committee
  • Future trayless dining initiatives
  • Food Waste audits and measuring data
  • Local Meals each semester
  • Training staff
  • Student outreach and marketing
  • Social media
  • Connecting to other sustainability organizations and leaders

Qualified Candidate: Should have interest and passion for sustainability; be willing to connect with staff and local leaders; excellent communication and presentation skills; self-motivated and independent; innovative and creative for further sustainability projects that will benefit Penn State and Residential Dining; be underclassmen, but all are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on experience and background.

Position timeline: Students will start this semester (after spring break) and work with the current student sustainability coordinators to learn the position. The two chosen candidates would then work with Residential Dining Coordinator for the 2017-18 school year.
