A LEAP Mentor is a current undergraduate student who assists incoming first-year students enrolled in the LEAP program with their transition to Penn State's University Park campus during Summer Session II. Mentors provide academic support and plan enriching social activities for LEAP participants throughout the program. Mentors also work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and fellow Mentors to provide LEAP students with a rewarding and memorable Penn State experience. The Mentor position is challenging yet rewarding and is suitable for students who want to build their leadership skills and have a desire to positively affect the lives of incoming first-year students.

Information Sessions about the position will be held on January 19th at 6:00 p.m., January 27th at noon, and February 11th at 8:00 p.m. All information sessions will be held via zoom at https://psu.zoom.us/my/summersession.
The review of applications will begin immediately and will be ongoing until all positions are filled.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
To be considered, you must be -

  • a full-time student at University Park
  • be in good academic standing
  • available to work during Summer Session II (June 28 – August 13, 2021)
  • attend weekly staff meetings
  • participate in evening and weekend activities
  • attend one information session (see dates above)
  • attend mandatory Summer Mentor Training from June 24-27, 2021
  • be highly motivated, enthusiastic, dependable, and sincere in representing Penn State the LEAP Program
