Company: ALL Holding Company, LLC. (Alderfer and Leidy brands) Company’s Business: Produce & Market Meat Products to Retailers, Food service, Big Box Stores and Further Processors Position: Hog Procurement Assistant Location: Souderton, PA (Northwest of Philadelphia)
The Hog Procurement Assistant should be a person with strong interpersonal skills and an interest and understanding of animal agriculture and agribusiness. The job can be fast-paced when working through scheduling and livestock hauling challenges. Knowledge of Excel and an ability and interest in working with spreadsheets and data analysis is a must. Daily duties include hog payment and price reporting, internal distribution of the hog delivery schedule and external distribution of payment settlement information. This role may expand into meat quality evaluation and carcass evaluation for lean payment and yield analysis. Interest and knowledge of specialty hog production, such as raised without antibiotics or heritage breeds is beneficial, as well as familiarity with farm auditing procedures and on farm record keeping and documentation.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in agriculture, an agriculture-related field, or in the food processing industry or Bachelors or higher degree in Animal Agriculture or Agribusiness. Farm experience beneficial.
- Skill in use of MS Office with emphasis on Excel.
- Working knowledge of statistics.
- Ability to drive and make farm visits.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate clearly.
- Self-starter with attention to detail and strong interest in accuracy and record keeping.
