Congratulations Drew Walton on being selected Ag Student of the Month for October 2020! Ag Student of the Month is a prestigious award given out by the College of Ag Student Council to a student that demonstrates actions that benefit their club and the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Mr. Walton is an outstanding student majoring in Animal Sciences at University Park.  His activities demonstrate the values of an exemplary College of Ag Sciences student effectively discovering and translating relevant research and science to solve real-world problems related to our ecosystem.  Mr. Walton is an undergraduate research assistant in the lab of Dr. Troy Ott, studying reproductive immunology in dairy cattle. However, his achievements do not stop there, he interned for Cargill Premix & Nutrition in their Dairy Research team where he conducted research trials in calves and heifers to evaluate the effectiveness of an oral electrolyte treatment.  Mr. Walton did not let a pandemic hold him back, this past summer he completed the PA Center for Dairy Excellence On-Farm Internship Program where he executed a research project looking at the relationship between activity monitoring data and ketosis risk in fresh cows.

He is a fantastic student both on and off campus!  On campus Mr. Walton serves as the President of the Reproduction Research Team and the Cheesebox Sale Co-Chair for the Dairy Science Club.  He is a member of the Dairy Science Club, formerly served as President of Earth House, which is an on-campus special living option for students in the College of Agricultural Sciences, and he has been a brother of Delta Theta Sigma since the Fall of 2018. Congratulations Mr. Walton and keep up the good work!
