Congratulations Zack Bare on being selected Ag Student of the Month for December 2020! Ag Student of the Month is a prestigious award given out by the College of Ag Student Council to a student that demonstrates actions that benefit their club and the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Zack Bare is an outstanding student majoring in Plant Science - Crop Production option at University Park. His activities demonstrate the values of an exemplary College of Ag Sciences student effectively discovering and translating relevant research and science to solve real-world problems.

Mr. Bare strives to educate the public on the importance of agriculture. His involvement in activities such as Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity (DTS), Agronomy Club, and Dairy Science Club help him form a well rounded idea of the Ag community. His dedication to DTS has earned him the honor of being president of the organization. He strives to represent the College of Ag Sciences and the agricultural industry in the highest way possible.

This past summer Mr. Bare interned with Mr. Dwight Lingenfelter as his summer research assistant. He assisted with small plot herbicide research at the Rock Springs Agronomy Farm. As a summer employee of the Weed Science department, he felt that he represented the department and College well through the research and various projects on which he worked.

Additionally, prior to the pandemic, he participated in multiple Dairy Science Club spring trips where they traveled around the world to see different aspects of the dairy industry. Being students from Penn State, they were recognized on these trips and Mr. Bare had the opportunity to talk to Penn State alumni in the locations they visited.

As an avid member and social chair in the Agronomy club, Mr. Bare finds passion in connecting with industry leaders in agronomy and plant science. With his wide range of interests and involvement throughout the college, the Ag Student Council wanted to recognize Mr. Bare on his achievements and dedication to the college.
