Congratulations Shelby Watt on being selected Ag Student of the Month for November 2021! Ag Student of the Month is a prestigious award given out by the College of Ag Student Council to a student that demonstrates actions that benefit their club and the College of Agricultural Sciences.

Shelby Watt is an outstanding student majoring in Plant Sciences at University Park. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Sorority where she serves as Agriculture Relations Chair. Her activities demonstrate the values of an exemplary College of Ag Sciences student. Watt’s deep-seated involvement in the College of Agriculture Sciences make her an honorable student and a great role model.

As Agriculture Relations Chair of Sigma Alpha Sorority, Shelby attends monthly meetings for the College of Agricultural Sciences Student Council. She keeps her sorority sisters connected to the College by planning agricultural events for the sorority. She also has served as the THON Fundraising Chair for Sigma Alpha.

Watt has completed two plant science internships during her time at Penn State. In 2019, she worked as an intern at Proven Winners in Loudon, NH. She spent most of her time working on a display garden with over 13,000 plants. She created a variety of displays and even ran a trial study for the company.

In 2020, Shelby worked at Homestead Gardens in Davidsonville, MD. She worked as sales floor person in the annuals department helping customers and making display tables. She also cared for the plants in the greenhouse.

Shelby chose the College of Agricultural Sciences to purse her dream of operating her own greenhouse one day. On behalf of Ag Student Council, we’d like to thank Shelby for her work and dedication to the College of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State.
