Summer 2017 Internship with Penn State and The American Chestnut Foundation
Applications due: February 27, 2017
Salary: $12/hr (internship)
Start Date: May 8th (flexible)
Work period: May-August with potential to continue working through fall/winter.
Get Experience: Help restore the American chestnut! Operate tractors, mowers, chainsaws (equipment use and maintenance); learn inoculation techniques (plant pathology); seedling care (greenhouse management and horticulture), and silvicultural techniques (forestry)
Travel: Orchards and trees are primarily located in the area surrounding Penn State University, but also throughout Pennsylvania. Travel to Ohio and other surrounding states is possible.
Qualifications: Must be motivated, dependable, organized, and observant. Applicants should be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Some experience with mowers/equipment a plus, but not required. Applicants from any major are encouraged to apply.
