Living Learning Communities
Home sweet home.
Live with Penn Staters who share your interests, get involved, and feel at home fast!
A Living Learning Community (LLC) is a close-knit community (or "house") located in University housing. LLCs generally center around a theme or interest, and members can participate in a variety of social and educational activities. Students build strong relationships with fellow residents—and with the faculty and staff members affiliated with the LLC. In Penn State's LLCs, learning isn't just encouraged—it's celebrated!
Here are two LLCs popular with Ag Sciences students:
EARTH House
Location: Runkle Hall, North Halls [map it]
Live and learn with students who share your love of agriculture, sustainability, and the environment. More than just a residence hall, EARTH House is a close-knit community of like-minded students who share a passion for sustainable living. Working closely with faculty in the College of Ag Sciences, residents take part in recycling efforts, visit organic farms, attend guest lectures, and participate in a variety of other educational experiences.
See EARTH House for more insights.
First-Year in Science and Engineering (FISE) House
Location: Ritner Hall, Pollock Halls [map it]
Enjoy this STEM-focused community that brings together new students from the colleges of Agricultural Sciences, Science, Engineering, and Earth and Mineral Sciences who are all navigating their first year at Penn State together. Designed to support first-year students in their transition to college, FISE offers excellent academic resources and programs throughout the year.
