Cara McNamara

My name is Cara McNamara and I am a senior majoring in Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Equine Science. I am originally from Colonia, New Jersey. This is my fourth year as a member of Pre-Vet Club, and my third year serving as an officer on the executive board. I was also one of the Planning Committee Co-chairs for the 2019 APVMA National Symposium that the club hosted last year! Here at Penn State, I am also the President of the Penn State Equine Research Team and am currently raising a Susquehanna Service Dog in training, SSD Avon. My favorite experience of my undergraduate career has come from my Broodmare and Foal Care class in which I helped the PSU Horse Barn's veterinarian with delivering newborn foals. Over the summer, I worked as a veterinary assistant at an emergency small animal hospital. When not working, I like to hike with my two rescue dogs Luna and Orion and go on trail rides. After graduation, I plan to attend veterinary school in order to become an equine veterinarian specializing in either emergency or neonatal critical care.
