Discover the cutting edge of agriculture in special programs and events

There's a lot happening beyond the walls of the Museum. From engaging activities for youth and families, to some biggest agricultural-focused events in the state, the Museum is your go-to hub for discovering the past and the future of our ag-sciences.

AgSci ActionLab

Kids and their grown-ups are invited to a fun, family-friendly science and history experience! AgSci Action Lab events focus on topics like damselflies and dragonflies, foods eaten by ancient humans, folk tales about giant foods, and more. Penn State faculty and graduate student scientists lead the lab, sharing their work and the tools they use. With the scientists, participants investigate the day's topic through a series of hands-on activity stations. Look through microscopes, analyze specimens, ask questions, try your hand at crafts, join in for games, and record observations—each ActionLab participant receives a field notebook, just like the ones our researchers use in the field.

Master Gardener Walk and Talk

Nurture your garden curiosity and your green thumb! Join a monthly one-hour Walk and Talk hosted by a Penn State Master Gardener. Tour of the nearby demonstration garden, learn about native plants in our region, and more! Walks are followed by a talk inside Pasto Agricultural Museum.

Research Unplugged at Pasto

Research Unplugged, a collaboration between the Schlow Centre Region Library and Penn State's Office of Government and Community Relations, presents a series of stimulating and intimate conversations with Penn State Researchers. Pasto Agriculture Museum is proud to be a featured location of Research Unplugged. For upcoming conversations, visit the Pasto calendar, and check out recordings of past conversations at Research Unplugged.

Ag Progress Days

Pennsylvania's largest outdoor agricultural exposition, Ag Progress Days, takes over Rock Springs for three days every August. This free event features the latest innovations in agricultural technology and equipment including research exhibits, equipment demonstrations, educational programs, over 400 exhibitors, and guided tours. This is the not-to-be-missed ag event of the year!

Pennsylvania Timber Show

Pennsylvania is the leading hardwood-producing state in the nation, and the Timber Show is the state's only timber trade exposition. Come learn about state-of-the-art machinery in hands-on demos, network with forest products companies, learn business and industry best practices, and peruse goods and services from vendors in the exhibitors hall. The Timber Show occurs biannually, and will next be held in June 2023 at Rock Springs.
