Nomination deadline is November 30, 2023.

The 2024 Excellence in Academic Advising Award allows students at all campuses to nominate an undergraduate adviser who has helped them navigate the University’s academic system, plan a fulfilling program of study, consider co-curricular experiences, and learn to manage their own educational journey at Penn State.

Nominations are open until November 30 and can be submitted at advising.psu.edu.

The University-wide award is sponsored by the University Advising Council and the Office of Undergraduate Education. One award is given annually to a faculty member and one to a professional academic adviser. All current full-time University employees with undergraduate advising responsibilities and two years of advising experience at Penn State are eligible.

Advisers selected for the 2024 Excellence in Advising Award will be recognized by the University in the spring.

Questions can be directed to David Smith, associate dean for advising and executive director of the Division of Undergraduate Studies.

The 2023 awardees were Garrett Huck, associate professor of rehabilitation and human services at Penn State Hazleton, and Mary Sergeant, lead academic adviser in the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications.
