We are looking for lightning talk speakers for the Penn State GIS Day presentations held on Monday, November 18, 2024.

Penn State GIS Day planning is underway to provide opportunities to learn about geospatial information and related geospatial technologies. Penn State GIS Day is co-sponsored by the University Libraries and the Department of Geography.

Student lightning talk speakers are encouraged to participate. Lightning talk presentations will be occurring Monday, November 18, 2024, 11:15 am-12:05 pm and 1:30-3:00 pm in Foster Auditorium (Paterno Library) or by Zoom.

If you are interested in giving a lightning talk, please email Tara Anthony, tll38@psu.edu, to express interest by Monday, September 9, 2024.

Types of Lightning Talks:

  • Research, Teaching, and Project Topics - share about how you are applying and using geospatial information in research, teaching, and project activities.
  • Evolution of Geospatial at Penn State - we are looking for presenters who could provide information about the evolution of geospatial at Penn State as multiple areas of the university have played a role in shaping the prominence of geospatial information use across disciplines.

Presenter Information - interested presenters will receive additional follow-up communication regarding time preferences, talk topic, talk title, and presenter information.

Presentation Format - presentation in person or virtually are welcome. Please consider both options.

If you are not able to share during the time of the event, we would also welcome a recording to share during the event and/or on the GIS Day website.
