4-H is a Community of Young People all across America who are learning leadership, civic engagement, and life skills. Pennsylvania 4-H serves youth from 5-18 years old. The main focus of 4-H is learning through hands-on as well as digital projects, alongside screened adult volunteers. 4-H Offers a Learning Experience for Everyone, from raising livestock to programming robots. The programs delivered through Penn State Extension with County Educators providing aces to learning and fun in our communities.

4-H exhibits at Ag Progress Days

Children and youth can learn about the many interactive activities offered by 4-H and other youth organizations. Featuring hands-on activities, demonstrations, or presentations. All week long, explore with microscopes the diseases of plant, experience fish identification, get up close and personal with rabbits, and test your dairy knowledge!

Week Long Exhibits May Include:

  • Pennsylvania 4-H Animal Tails - Learn about the state 4-H Program. Participate in a 4-H animal science activity and our booth. Then visit the Dairy Livestock Tent 2 (L) to see Penn State Animal Extension team with live animals: Tuesday- Sheep, wool craft; Wednesday-Dairy Cow, milking; Thursday-Hen, handling and egg candling.
  • PA Dairy Princess and Promotion Services Inc and Diary Industry Education
    • Test your own dairy knowledge with "milk to you puzzle". Test your knowledge with different dairy facts and figures by spinning the wheel and the stomp board. Participate in the "Wholesome" corn hole board activity. You can also visit our second booth in the Dairy and Livestock Tent #1 area for sampling of a dairy product.
  • Pennsylvania State Rabbit Breeder's Association will share their rabbit hobby with visitors and share about uses of rabbit throughout the state!
  • PSU Plant Pathology - Plants Get Sick Too! - Hands-on children's activities examine forest fungi, cultivated mushrooms and plants. 

    Visualization of plant pathogens and mushrooms - The mission of the Department of Plant Pathology and Environmental Microbiology is to engage in quality research, education, and outreach in plant pathology, mushroom science, and environmental microbiology with emphasis on the understanding of relationships among microbes, their hosts, and the environment, and on the management of diseases and other threats impacting agricultural and natural ecosystems, food safety, and human and environmental health.
