Learn about two major research centers in which the AEC is involved, the Center for Nutrient Solutions and the Center for Green Infrastructure and Stormwater Management.

The AEC, in collaboration with its parent institute, ENRI, have engaged faculty from the College of Agricultural Sciences and across the University in multidisciplinary teams to develop several successful, highly competitive research proposals that combine innovative science with community outreach on water quality problems.

Especially noteworthy are two multi-million dollar EPA grants, funding the Center for Green Infrastructure and Stormwater Management (co-directed by AEC Director Matt Royer), and the Center for Multi-Scale Nutrient Pollution Solutions (directed by ENRI Director Jim Shortle).

The AEC directs and implements the community outreach and engagement strategies for both of these research centers.

Center for Green Infrastructure and Stormwater Management

The Center for Green Infrastructure and Stormwater Management is one of two EPA-funded centers in the Chesapeake Bay region conducting research on community-based approaches to stormwater management using green infrastructure.
