Scholarship donors appreciate receiving messages from their recipients and are genuinely interested in learning how students are progressing both academically and personally. Their generosity reflects a commitment to helping students achieve their educational goals. We encourage you to take time to share updates about your college experiences, accomplishments, and personal interests.
Donor Thank-You Guidelines
- Share your appreciation by writing a thank-you letter or recording a short video message. Letters may be typed or handwritten. Please attach your letter or video to an email and send it to the contact listed in your scholarship award notification.
- Use an appropriate salutation when addressing your donor. Refer to them as Dr., Mr., Mrs., or Ms., as indicated in your award notification email.
- Include the scholarship name in your introduction.
- Sign your message with your name. You may also include your email address and/or mailing address if you are comfortable receiving a response from your donor.
- Proofread/review carefully before submitting your letter or video.
Suggestions for what to include your letter or video
- Introduce yourself.
- Reasons for choosing the College of Agricultural Sciences or Penn State.
- Your academic major, career goals and expected graduation date.
- Extracurricular and/or community activities.
- If you would like, include a photo of yourself at Penn State.
- Share a message of gratitude for the scholarship support received.
