Donors greatly appreciate hearing from their scholarship recipients and are truly interested in knowing of your interests and college experiences.
The reason most scholarships are created is the desire by donors to provide meaningful assistance to students. Please take the time now to express your appreciation for your scholarship and to share your interests and experiences.
Please follow these guidelines
- Share your words of thanks either in a letter or a short video. You can either type or hand-write the letter, whichever you prefer. Please attach the letter or video in the email you send to the contact listed in your award notification email.
- Address your donor as Dr., Mr., Mrs., or Ms. (Indicated in the email announcing your award).
- Mention the scholarship by name in your introduction.
- Sign your name at the end. You can include an email and/or mailing address if you would feel comfortable possibly hearing back from your donor.
- Proofread your letter before sending.
Suggestions for what to include your letter or video
- Introduce yourself.
- Reasons for choosing the College of Agricultural Sciences or Penn State.
- Your academic major, career goals and expected graduation date.
- Extracurricular and/or community activities.
- If you would like, include a photo of yourself at Penn State.
- Thank your donor(s) for their support!
