Here are ways that you can be involved with the Pasto Agricultural Museum.
Day of Event Volunteers
On special events, such as Ag Progress Days, or Open Houses, we need:
- Greeters with a bright smile to welcome visitors
- Activity assistants to help with crafts, scoop ice cream, and lend a hand where needed
Ongoing Participation
We welcome volunteers who can assist with tasks and outreach throughout the year. Examples include:
- Collections—Help to maintain artifacts and review items for inclusion in the collection
- Exhibits—Develop exhibits to showcase items in the collection
- Tours—Provide guided tours for visitors to the museum. Training provided about the collection and how to provide tours to the diversity of visitors to the museum
- Programming—Develop programs and events to connect the collection to the present day with demonstrations, lectures, and activities
- Fundraising—Organize events, seek grant funding or gifts to support museum operations and special projects
- Housekeeping—Maintaining the museum collection, artifacts and exhibits, for visitors and special events. Inspecting and identifying exhibits or artifacts in need of repair or cleaning.
- Data Entry—update collection records
- Research and writing—searching for info about artifacts, the history of agriculture, and stories of rural life in the mid-Atlantic states, writing articles for use on our website, press releases, and newsletters
