Microsoft has announced a very serious issue with the Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) and also a patch for the primary vulnerability. However, the severity of the potential impact related to unpatched systems is such that the University will begin blocking the use of RDP at the border effective Wednesday (March 21).

What does this mean for us at AG?

This will change the process for those connecting to computers at University Park while remote, i.e, home, using Remote Desktop. You will first need to connect your VPN client prior to running your Remote Desktop tool. Without connecting to VPN, you will not be able to connect to any computer at University Park using Remote Desktop.

Workaround:

To Install and use Cisco VPN client: http://kb.its.psu.edu/node/891
