Young Tunisian and 2013 winner of a social entrepreneurship award, Dorra M'Hamdi, visited young growers in Adams County, PA to learn more about the apple industry. With her masters in Biology and a desire to learn, Dorra explored apple growing techniques, juice making and cider vinegar production while here in the U.S.
She returned to Tunisia with her knowledge and started a business. The focus is on producing apple vinegar, juice and spreads while being able to offer jobs to the many unemployed youth in her country. Dorra appreciates all the help our community gave and thanks Penn State Extension, Three Springs Fruit Farm, Twin Springs Fruit Farm, Rice Fruit Company, Kimes, Knouse Foods, Country Acres Cider & Produce and Penn State Fruit Research and Extension Center for hosting her at their businesses, farms and markets.
