Faculty, staff, students, University and government leaders, and others celebrated the opening of the new Animal, Veterinary, and Biomedical Sciences Building on December 1, 2021.
The 105,000-square-foot structure, on the site of the former Henning Building, is the new home of the Departments of Animal Science and Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences. The building houses a state-of-the-art vivarium, a 120-seat general-purpose classroom, a 48-seat departmental seminar room, and zones designed to promote cross-departmental collaboration and provide greater flexibility in assigning laboratory space. "I am pleased to officially report that the building has already helped attract new faculty," said the college's dean, Rick Roush, who noted that more than a third of the college's undergraduate and graduate students study animal, veterinary, or biomedical sciences.
