This series of presentations from faculty and staff in the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences will be hosted every month at the the Village at Penn State Retirement Community.

Speakers will address major areas of focus for the college, including food, human health and disease, globalization, sustainability, agricultural production, and more. Each session runs from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. and will be held in the Lion's Den room.

The Penn State Hort Club's Hort Show

The Penn State Hort Club will be hosting their annual Hort Show this year with a Halloween theme. The show will take place in the Ag Arena on October 23rd from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and October 24th from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. For this event, the Horticulture Club converts the indoor arena into a landscape using donated materials from local businesses. Patrons to the show have the opportunity to walk through the landscape and take part in some of the interactive features as well as purchase local cider, pumpkins, plants, and other feature items donated for the show. This is the largest fundraiser for the club and the funds generated from the Hort Show go towards sending the members to the National Collegiate Landscaping Competition. There is no link to register.

Penn State Horticulture Show

Hours: Saturday (9 am - 8 pm); Sunday (9 am - 6 pm) Every year at the Pennsylvania State University, the Horticulture Club develops and manages a display show in which it provides funding to the club. The Horticulture Show is a two-day weekend event in which visitors can walk through the landscape for free. As mentioned, this show funds the club and is the biggest fundraiser the club holds for the year. All the plant material shown in the landscape is all donated by either landscape companies or nurseries within the mid-Atlantic region. With the donated materials, they are sold at the show to any willing buyers. The club also sells fresh produce, apple cider, pumpkins, ornamental corn, house plants, and lastly, Chrysanthemums (just in time for full bloom!). Parking Information: The event will take place this year on a home-football weekend. Guest parking for this event will NOT be available on Saturday, October 23, 2021 due to the football game. Guests wishing to view the show on Sunday, October 24, 2021 will have ample parking available.

Partners conducting research, advancing science, and working to improve our local watersheds are invited to gather and share their work at a free two-day Lancaster-Lebanon Watershed Forum and Science Symposium held at Elizabethtown College on November 19-20, 2021. This gathering seeks to foster collaboration among watershed scientists and practitioners working and interested in this high priority region for addressing impacts to watersheds. Day one will be a full day focus on science and research. Day two will be a half day focus on actions to enhance and support the watershed work of local watershed practitioners, volunteers, local governments, and community organizations.
