One-on-One Virtual Meet-Ups for Students and Alumni
Career Quick Connect: One-on-One Virtual Meet-Ups for Students and Alumni
This partnership between the College of Ag Sciences Office for Undergraduate Education and the Ag Alumni Society is designed to help current undergraduate students connect with alumni to explore potential career paths and opportunities. Through one-to-one virtual meetings, alumni and students will have the chance to engage and share an inside look at industries and organizations.
Information for Current Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students from all majors and all class levels are encouraged to participate. This is your chance to learn about the types of positions available in your field of interest, gain advice from seasoned professionals, and build your professional network. Just one hour of your time could lead to new ideas and exciting opportunities!
How will I be matched with a Career Quick Connect Host?
Based on the information you provide at sign-up, and the information provided by the alumni host, our team will match you with a Career Quick Connect host. Within the sign-up survey, you will find an opportunity to note any preferences you may have. We aim to accommodate preferences but due to availability and demand, we can not guarantee that all specific requests will be granted. Availability is based on demand, and while we will do our best to match you with a host of your choice, it is not guaranteed. If you are interested in the program but don't see a host that aligns with your field of interest, contact agcareers@psu.edu and note "Career Quick Connect" in the subject line.
What are my responsibilities as a Student in the Career Quick Connect program?
Once you receive an email introducing you to your host, you will need to do the following:
- Email your host to set up a mutually convenient date and time for your job shadow.
- Using your PSU Zoom access, set up the zoom link to be shared with your host.
- Be prepared with thoughtful questions to ask your host about their role, their career path, and opportunities in their field.
Can I meet with multiple hosts?
To ensure that each student can participate, students are limited to one alumni host – for now! If the experience is valuable to you, we want to know so that we can grow the program in the future.
What is the timeframe for the program?
Students will be matched with alumni in late February, and meetings will occur during the month of March, at the convenience of the host and student.
