This series of presentations from faculty and staff in the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences will be hosted every month at the the Village at Penn State Retirement Community.

Speakers will address major areas of focus for the college, including food, human health and disease, globalization, sustainability, agricultural production, and more. Each session runs from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. and will be held in the Lion's Den room.

Colloquium on the Environment: Dr. Robert Bullard Date/Time: Thursday, April 1, 2021 - 7:00pm Venue: Zoom - Register in Advance Dr. Robert Bullard, known as the father of the environmental justice movement, will be the 2021 keynote speaker at Penn State's annual Colloquium on the Environment at 7 p.m. on April 1, 2021 via zoom. You can register to attend here. The event is free and open to all. Dr. Bullard is an author of eighteen books on topics ranging from sustainable development, environmental racism, urban land use, industrial facility siting, community investment, housing, transportation, climate justice, disasters, emergency response, community resilience, smart growth, to regional equity. He was named by Newsweek as one of '13 Environmental Leaders of the Century' (2008), one of the '100 Black History Makers in the Making' by The Grio (2010), and one of the world's '100 Most Influential People in Climate Policy' by Apolitcal (2019). Dr. Bullard has received countless awards for his work, including the Child Health Advocate Award from the Children Environmental Health Network, and in 2013 he was the first African American to win the Sierra Club John Muir Award. Former Dean of the Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University, and founding Director of the Environmental Resource Center at Cleark Atlanta University, Dr. Bullard is currently Distinguished Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Policy and co-founder of the HBCU Climate Change Consortium. Dr. Bullard received his Ph.D. from Iowa State University and is a proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran. The event is co-sponsored by Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment, Office of Human Resources, Office of Educational Equity, Office of Diversity and Inclusion, and the Sustainability Institute.
