Northeast Regional Collegiate Soil Judging Contest

Columbus, OH -- On October 11, 1997, Penn State placed second at the Northeast Regional Collegiate Soil Judging Contest. By finishing in one of the top two places, Penn State qualified for the National Contest, to be held April 3, 1998 in Athens, Georgia. Cornell finished first with 3575 points, 20 points higher than Penn State's 3555. Ohio State finished third with 3507 points. Seven Penn State students competed at the regional contest. All placed extremely well; 5 students placed in the top 12 places. Approximately 50 students from 7 colleges and universities competed in this contest.
