After January's pause in Box to OneDrive migrations, the work is scheduled to restart in April

Box to OneDrive migrations will begin again on April 5, 2021, for College faculty and staff whose files were not previously migrated. A new, two-phased approach will be conducted to lessen the disruption caused by earlier migration approaches. The duration of each phase will vary, depending on the amount and complexity of the data to migrate.

Phase 1 begins at 7:00 am on April 5, 2021 Phase 2 begins at 12:00 pm on April 25, 2021*
  • Data will copy from Box to OneDrive and will take several weeks to complete
  • Data in Box NPA accounts will be copied into SharePoint
  • While in Phase 1, users and their collaborators may:
    • Access, update and save Box files
    • Upload or create new Box files and folders
    • Add new collaborators to Box files and folders
  • While in Phase 1, users and their collaborators should not:
    • Access the migrated files you may see in the Box Migration Data folder in OneDrive
    • Move, rename or delete files and folders in Box
    • Remove collaborators or change file and folder permissions in Box
  • Before April 25th, save and close all Box files to ensure the latest versions are migrated to OneDrive
  • While in Phase 2, users and their collaborators should not:
    • Access or modify any files or folders in their Box account
    • Access or modify any of the migrated files or folders seen within their OneDrive
  • When the migration is complete, migrating users will:
    • Receive an email from Box Migration (boxmigration@psu.edu)
    • Receive an email from their Ag IT Consultant

*Please note: Faculty and staff with a large number of files (50,000+) or folders (6,000+) may not begin Phase 2 on April 25th. Your IT Consultant will be in touch with with users whose Phase 1 data copy will not be finished prior to April 25th.
