Jabber allows you to use your cell phone or computer to make & receive calls when you don't have access to your work phone. It looks like you are making calls from your work phone number.
On a Penn State Computer
- In the taskbar of your computer, click the BigFix b icon. In most cases, this is in the bottom right corner near the date and time.
- You will see an offer for Cisco Jabber Client. Click on it.
- Click Get
- Jabber will install shortly in the background.
- You may close the IBM BigFix Self-Service Application window.
On Your Phone
- On an iOS device: Go to the App Store OR On Android: Go to the Google Play Store
- Search for Cisco Jabber
- Click to get/install Cisco Jabber. The icon looks like:
- Follow the prompts to install the program and you are ready to go. Jabber will need access to your microphone, contacts, and perhaps your camera.
Your Personal Computer
- In a web browser go to softwarerequest.psu.edu and login with Penn State ID, password and then 2FA.
- Look for the Productivity Software section and locate Jabber.
- Under the icon, click Download files and then click on the type of computer you use: Windows or Macintosh
- On the next page, click on the version to start the download.
- Save the file in a known location.
- Run the file that downloads and keep the default options.
