Students from primary undergraduate institutions have few opportunities to engage in hands-on research and are often unaware of career opportunities in agricultural sciences.
Robert Roberts, professor and head of the Department of Food Science, is joined by Ed Dudley, professor of Food Science, to discuss Bugs in My Food 2.0. This USDA-funded program pairs summer students with mentors in a research-focused program at Penn State that integrates bioinformatics with experiential learning opportunities in food microbiology, helping to secure the next generation of food scientists.
