Note: You can check your E-mail quota at any time by logging into Outlook Web App or OWA (http://email.ag.psu.edu). Hover the mouse over your account name to see the amount of mailbox space used. You will be shown the quota limit as well (Example: At 2 GB you will not be able to send mail).

If the account is greater than 75% full, the following will occur:

  • You will receive a daily E-mail asking you to reduce the size of the mailbox
  • These messages are server-generated and are sent at 8:00 AM
  • The Subject will be "Your mailbox is almost full"
  • In the message (see below sample) you will see a graphic representation of your quota and how close you are to the upper limit

Exchange 2010 Near Quota

If the account is allowed to reach 100% full, the following will occur:

  • You will still receive new E-mail messages
  • You will be prohibited from sending new messages
  • Without exception, you will need to reduce the overall size of your mailbox before you can send any more messages

Note: You should not allow your account to reach the quota limit. The inability to send new E-mail will greatly hamper your ability to work.

Note: If you login to OWA, you won't need to hover over your name to see the amount of mailbox space used. It will be displayed for you in the upper left.

Exchange 2010 Over Quota
