SROP is an exciting and challenging program designed to provide research opportunities to underrepresented minority students. This is a program to interest talented undergraduate minority students in academic careers and to enhance their preparation for graduate study through intensive research experiences with faculty mentors.

The program is in its fourteenth year of operation at The Pennsylvania State University. During Summer 2003, the program hosted over 20 undergraduate scholars from around the country. During their two month tenure, the students paired with faculty mentors in their chosen fields and conducted research for approximately 40 hours per week.
