Barbara Howell Raphael Educational Equity Graduate Scholarship

The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who exhibit academic excellence and contribute to the diversity of the student body. Applications are due November 1.

Evans Family Award for Graduate Student Extension Achievement

The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who are excelling in extension educational programming. This may include working with extension educators, specialists, and contributions to extension program development, program delivery, and evaluation, and assisting in Extension workshops/training, etc. Applications are due November 1.

Katherine Mabis McKenna Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding graduate students who are enrolled in an area of study that relates to the use of plants for environmental stewardship, especially in stream or watershed conservation. Applications are due November 1.

Paul Hand Award for Graduate Student Research Achievement

The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who are excelling in research and scholarly accomplishments. These may include the quantity and quality of research output; potential impact and importance of their research output; the leadership role the student played in their research activities; communication of research through scholarly publications and presentations; mentoring of others in related research activities; and the leadership role the student played in their research activities (original research idea, leadership in the lab, success in securing own grant funding, etc.). Note: MS nominees do not need to have a publication record at the time of nomination. Applications are due November 1.

Paul Hand Award for Graduate Student Teaching Achievement

The purpose of this award is to recognize graduate students who are excelling in classroom teaching. This may include curriculum development, classroom teaching effectiveness, student mentoring and assessment as well as dedication to instruction through successful implementation of innovative techniques and/or contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Applications are due November 1.

William J. and Anne E. Scarlett Award in Watershed Stewardship

The purpose of this award is to recognize outstanding graduate students who are enrolled in an area of study in water conservation or stewardship. Applications are due November 1

Penn State Extension Graduate Scholarship in honor of Dr. John S. Shenk and Dr. J.D. Harrington

The purpose of this award is to recognize Penn State Extension employees who are pursuing a graduate degree with a research focus on production agriculture or applied agricultural field research. Applications are due November 1.

C. Reese Berdanier Graduate Program Support in Crop and Soil Sciences

The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding graduate student in the College of Agricultural Sciences who conduct research in the fields of agronomy (field crop science) and soil science where improvement of field crop productivity and soil management are studied. Applications are due Febraury 16.
