This How To will provide steps to access the Exchange Admin Center to edit and modify existing Outlook groups.

Finding Distribution Group Admin Center

These steps are demonstrated in this video.

You can go to the Exchange admin center or follow the instructions below:

  1. Go to Outlook on the Web in your favorite browser at this link: https://outlook.office.com/mail/.
  2. Log in to your Penn State account, if needed.
  3. Click the Gear in the top right corner of the screen.

  4. In the pop-up box that appears, select General from the Settings on the far left.
  5. In the middle column, choose Distribution Groups.
  6. On the right, click the link to this portal as highlighted.

Editing Owners and Members of Distribution Groups

These steps are demonstrated in this video.

  1. Once in the Exchange Admin Center, click on the tab for Groups I Own, as these will be the ones you can edit.

  2. Find a group you would like to edit and click on it.  
    1. A window on the right of the screen will open for that group.
  3. Click the Members tab to edit the group.

  4. From here, choose to View all and manage owners or View all and manage members of the group.
  5. When deciding where to add someone, decide on which group (or both) they should be in:
    1. Owners – Can edit group owners or members.  
      1. These are people who have been delegated the task of managing the list.  
        1. They do not receive the emails to the list.  
        2. If they need to receive emails as well as manage, they should be added to both Owners and Members.
    2. Members – Regular people in the group.  
      1. They will receive messages sent to the group.  
      2. Most will fall in this category.
  6. In the Owners or Members list, the list of all the people in the group will show.  
  7. In the top left of this window, click the +Add Members/Owners button.

  8. Use the search box to find people to add them. Click the radio button next to their name.  
  9. Note: The window will remember people you have selected already, so you can search and add multiple people at once.
  10. Click Add in the bottom left. It will take 1–5 minutes before you see the change, but it will happen. 
  11. Close this window with the X at the top right.
  12. Close this browser window.
