Steps describing how to restore your company file from a backup file. (Posted on 11/8/2005)
Restoring data files means recreating a company data file from a backup copy. You may do this for several reasons.
- The company file on you hard drive is damaged.
- The computer's hard drive is damaged.
- You need to transfer the files from another computer (without having access to other file transfer methods).
- You wish to review your company data as of an earlier date.
Restore a Company Data File
- Open QuickBooks Pro 2005.
- From the File menu, choose Restore.
- In the Get Company Backup From: section, click the Browse button to specify the name and location of the backup file to be restored.
- In the Restore Company Backup To: section, click the Browse button. Indicate the location on the hard drive for the file to be Saved In and then type the name of the file in the appropriate field. Click the Save button.
- Click the Restore button.
- Enter the User Name: and Password: in the QuickBooks Login window (if file is password protected).
- Make appropriate selections in the QuickBooks Backup windows.
- Click OK in the QuickBooks Information window.
