This project is based off a theory that horses in the local region are obese/overweight, overfed, and/or under worked.
Researcher: Katie Branham
Katie has constructed a survey to look at the health and management of horses. This survey asks questions about the horse(s) body condition score, amount of exercise, quality and amount of hay and grain, and metabolic diseases associated with overweight horses. Currently, this survey is being reviewed by equine science professors at Penn State to improve the survey before it is released to local horse owners. We hope that this survey will help obtain an idea about how horses are managed related to their exercise and nutritional needs.
