EARTH House is a Living Learning Community (LLC) that brings together University Park students interested in agriculture, the environment, the sciences, medicine, teaching, and many other areas to allow them to live in a community-like atmosphere. The LLC is a recognized club within the College of Agricultural Sciences.
We hold bi-monthly meetings to keep members up-to-date on upcoming activities, service projects, and guest speakers. We encourage fun social activities like dinners, hikes, game nights, and ice cream nights to foster a sense of community. Please see the Social Events and Service Projects pages for further details.
In order to become a member of EARTH House, first-year students need to apply for the LLC in their housing contracts.
Current students both living in EARTH House and elsewhere on campus should attend meetings and become active in the club. Active members are required to complete six social activities and four service/sustainability projects per year, as well as attend most of the business meetings. Students meeting these requirements will then be offered preferred housing during the early housing contract request/accept period in the end of November.
Once a student gets accepted for living in EARTH House, they must stay active to be eligible for housing the next year. However, students have a much better chance of obtaining on-campus housing at North Halls for the next year if they are active members of EARTH House.
