Ag Progress Days
Ag Progress Days is a summer event that draws Pennsylvanians from across the state. Exhibitions concern broad topics within agriculture, including machinery, structures, feed technology, and other farming innovations. Hundreds of Ag businesses meet at Penn State during this week in August to share knowledge. Visit us at the College Theme Building just off Main Street.
The Pennsylvania Farm Show
Farm Show is the annual agriculture event held in January. Held in the Farm Show Building in Harrisburg, PA, it is a competition, an exhibition, and a fair all at once. This one-week event can be an important source of information for those of agricultural backgrounds, as well as an entertaining learning experience for animal lovers. Visit us at the Penn State Ag Sciences Booth in the center of the Main Exhibition Hall.
Dean's Welcome
At the beginning of each new semester, Ag Advocates assist the Dean of Agricultural Sciences and many other faculty and staff in welcoming new students to the College of Agricultural Sciences. This event includes an information session, question and answer periods, and meetings with individual advisors.
Retreat
Being able to work well together is the key to any successful organization. Learning about other member of a group is exciting and fun. Before the start of a busy fall semester the entire Ag Advocate crew spends an eventful, fun-filled day at both on and off campus working on team building and leadership. Some of the workshops presented were "Knowing your Colors", a workshop centered around learning your personality type, and also leadership and trust activities. This was a great way to start out the year on a positive note, learn about each other, and prepare ourselves for the upcoming school year.
Alumni Tailgate
Football is a great time for friends, food, and family. The last home football game of the season the Ag Arena is home to the Ag Alumni Tailgate. Alumni from all over travel to see the Nittany Lions play their final game at home for the year. There is a big screen for watching the game, a raffle, and live auction along with lunch. This is a great opportunity for many Ag Advocates to network and get to know some alumni. This is always an enjoyable day that hopefully ends with a Nittany Lion victory!
Campus Tours
One of the main and most rewarding duties for an Ag Advocate is the campus tours given to families and prospective students. This is a chance for Ag Advocates to meet one on one with the family and student to tour the campus, and answer any questions they may have. It is a valuable time when the Advocates can share their stories about their time at Penn State in the College of Agricultural Sciences.
