MFA SECONDARY ENROLLMENT: Enrolling a Phone as a Secondary Authentication Method

You can configure a phone number as a secondary method for multi-factor authentication. NOTE: These instructions assume that you have previously enrolled a primary/initial method. If you have not yet enrolled another method, these are NOT the correct instructions and will not work for you.

  1. Go to accounts.psu.edu/mfa
  2. Click the Manage MFA on My Devices button
  3. Click the + Add sign-in method
  4. Select Phone from the drop-down menu
  5. Click Add
  6. Enter your Phone Number
  7. Choose the whether to be called or texted
    1. Call will require you to answer and press the # key
    2. Text will send you a 6 digit code that you will need to enter
  8. Click Next
  9. Click Next
  10. Answer the test call and press the # key or enter the 6 digit code texted to your phone
  11. Click Done
