If you need to analyze data based on respondent's answer, you can use the filter tool in the Analyze section. Based on questions in the survey, you can pick specific answer choices to build a response-based filter. With this filter applied, you will see only the surveys that match that criteria.

Account owners and people who have been given access to view summary information can create filters to analyze the data. The first set of steps will be for the account owner.

Account Owner Steps

  1. Log into your SurveyMonkey account
  2. Click on the survey you want to use
  3. Click on the Analyze Tab. This brings you to a Response Summary page that shows all the data that has been entered to date.
  4. Click on Filter Responses on the left-hand navigation
  5. Click Add New Filter button
  6. Name your filter based on your criteria, example: District 2, xxxCounty, etc.
  7. Click on Filter By Responses
  8. Click on New Response Filter
    1. Select the question to filter
    2. Select the choice
  9. Click Save Changes

You will see a Response Summary page explaining your filter and the data below will be just the filtered data.

As the account owner, you can create charts of individual questions and/or you can download the data. Note that for matrix type questions, you will not be able to create a chart but you can download your data to an Excel spreadsheet and create your charts there.

Person who has been given access from the account owner steps

  1. Click on the link that the account owner provided.
  2. At the View Summary page, click on Filter Responses at the top of the page.
  3. Click Add New Filter button
  4. Name your filter based on your criteria, example: District 2, xxxCounty, etc.
  5. Click on Filter By Responses
  6. Click on New Response Filter
    1. Select the question to filter
    2. Select the choice
  7. Click Save Changes
  8. You will see a Response Summary page explaining your filter and the data below will be just the filtered data. You can download the responses to an Excel spreadsheet, PDF format or other options.
    1. Remember to click the "Use Current Filter Named "xxxxx" if you only want to download those responses.
